Return library books12/13/2023 ![]() Not all of our collections are available for scanning. If you only need a chapter of a book, or a single journal article, you can request a scan and where we can, we will email the pages to you. Use the self-service machines to borrow the items. All Reed students and faculty can get a free library card. The Multnomah County public library has books, ebooks, audio books, magazines, streaming video, and more. Learn more about checkout length, recalls, overdue fines, and lost fees. The library that lends the book decides the checkout period and lost item replacement fees. Please return books on time! Other libraries might not lend to us if we're consistently late in returning books. Libraries cannot scan an entire book or multiple chapters. It can take 4-5 business days, but could be shorter or longer. You'll get an email when your request is ready as a PDF. Only need a chapter or a few pages? Make a digitization request! Follow the steps above, selecting "article" or "book chapter" in the New Request menu. You'll get an email when your requests are ready, and you'll have 5 days to pick them up before they'll be sent back.Interlibrary Loan staff will contact you about preferred pickup locations.Go to the Interlibrary Loan form and login with your Kerberos.Now what? Request books from libraries anywhere in the world with Interlibrary Loan (ILL), free of charge. Reference books, current journals, and bound journals are available to use in the library and can't be checked out.Contact to learn how to access these books. Rare books and Artists' books are part of Special Collections and Archives.New books, theses, and oversize books check out for normal periods of time, but are shelved in special locations.Bring the call number to the circulation desk to get a reserves book. You can take reserves books out of the library. If you lose a book, a replacement fee will get charged to your account. Reed books check out for 28 days for students, and longer for thesis students, faculty, and staff. Search the Reed catalog from the library homepage or start a new search directly in the library catalog. This includes reserves books, ebooks, rare books, and Reed theses.
